Quick start

0:00 · Objective and discovery

Play the Record against the Erasure. Six neighbouring returns occupied by your cards make an Unbroken Record, checked after the whole action. Otherwise the ending compares Secured runs, then Secured returns held. Encounter cards in play to fill this browser's binder. Discovery never restricts the shared 81-card shuffle or changes your daily deal. Hidden opponent cards do not count. The full reference contains spoilers.

0:23 · Read a card

A card has a type, Severity for contests, Reach for placement and effects, and a printed transit. These numbers and abilities are game design. This is a real training position, not a normal opening deal. Attested, Partial and Predicted are this adaptation's editorial source tags, not independent historical verification. On the board the matching states begin as Secured, Fragmentary and Forecast. Changing game state never rewrites the source tag.

0:53 · Take a turn

Choose a card, then a lit destination. Dated cards contest their nearest home return; empty placement can extend by printed Reach. This board is a strategy abstraction, not the event's historical date. Cancel spends nothing. If an ability needs a target, choose that too. Read the actual preview before confirming. Confirm once. The card travels to the board and its eligible transit resolves. Animations show the result; Skip animation never takes an extra action.

1:20 · Win a contest

Attack must be strictly higher than defence. The preview includes the type-wheel bonus and modifiers. Fragmentary defence is halved, rounded up. A tie holds: the attacker is discarded and triggers no transit. A winning contest sends the defender to Exile. Forecast defends at zero against an Attested-source attacker until the clock reaches its return. Not every type matchup earns a bonus. Here a Fragmentary return is contested in the third training position. Transits happen only on a successful, unsilenced arrival. Follow the preview, not the rarity of the illustration.

1:50 · Clock and zones

The shared draw pile stays concealed. Discard and Exile are public; Exile never returns. The clock takes one ordinary game step after each action. Sealed returns stay closed even if the clock moves back. Archive voluntarily, even with a legal play. It discards your chosen card instead of placing it. The hand cap is seven. Pass is available only with an empty hand. Archiving still advances the action. The fourth lesson clears a stranded card. The fifth lesson sets up the final neighbour of an Unbroken Record.

2:17 · Finish and continue

Six neighbouring returns win after the complete action, in any game state. Otherwise compare the longest Secured run, then Secured held. An exact terminal tie goes to the Erasure. Complete a non-training game to discover the undealt 2106 entry. Training does not award it. The 2178 Empty Spoke adds two game steps, not historical years. Mythics have a special first-discovery reveal; their faces stay a surprise here. A real practice deal starts with six visible cards for Record and a concealed Erasure hand. Try the tutorial, practice freely, or play today's shared UTC deal. Your first completed daily result is kept. Your encountered cards are now in the binder. Reference viewing and this video do not award discoveries. Continue with the full rules or optional transit reference when you need a particular ability.

001/58 · The Phoenix

138-Year Orbit · Source tag: Attested · Severity 10 · Reach 10

An intruder planet on a 138-year orbit perpendicular to the ecliptic, crossing the inner system in May, descending out of the Cygnus region. In transit it darkens the sun and blankets Earth in cosmic dust: pole shifts, mudfloods, red rains, vanishings. The Chronicon calls it the planet of chronology; the ancients called it Typhon, the Winged Disk, the fiery flaming sword.

The 138-Year Return: Reveal the top three cards of the deck. Every Phoenix return among them whose own home stands empty and unsealed enters play there as yours, Secured for scoring; the rest are discarded. Recruited returns trigger no arrival transit. Their source tags do not change.

002/58 · The Nemesis X Object

792-Year Orbit · Source tag: Attested · Severity 9 · Reach 9

A dead world on a 792-year orbit: 732 years in the Deep below the ecliptic, then a 60-year transit above it. The Babylonians recorded it as Tiamat, a great blackness that swallowed the stars; the Greeks as Typhon. Doomsday Chronology places its return in November 2046 and its exit in 2106 CE, the year 6000 Annus Mundi.

The Deep: The opponent skips their next draw, and every attack they make is 1 Severity weaker for the rest of the game.

Wormwood: The weakening outlives the planet: it holds even after Nemesis has left the board.

003/58 · The Nemesis Cataclysm

5239 BCE · Source tag: Attested · Severity 9 · Reach 3

The beginning of Earth's geometrical timelines. Nemesis, the old binary companion, implodes, hurling Earth, Luna, the Dark Satellite, the Nemesis X Object, Electra and Phoenix toward Sol. The Great Year system of 600-year periods counts from this year: 7,344 years to 2106 CE.

Pole Shift: The card that just landed here swaps its Severity and Reach. The clock steps back once before the ordinary step, never below zero. Sealed history stays sealed.

004/58 · The Daystar Rebellion

4639 BCE · Source tag: Attested · Severity 9 · Reach 7

A third of the Anunnaki quit their appointments and require worship of themselves; war breaks out among the planets of the Daystar and the old system begins to fail. Exactly 600 years after the Nemesis Cataclysm.

The Age Turns: Both hands keep their oldest three cards. The clock takes an extra step and you draw one card.

005/58 · The Daystar Goes Dark

4309 BCE · Source tag: Attested · Severity 7 · Reach 3

The smaller sun explodes and folds in on itself; the pre-Adamic world is destroyed as a dust cloud hides the sun. Nemesis X Object drifts into its 792-year orbit and Phoenix into its 138-year orbit, the two clocks this chronology runs on. Named as the Phoenix's first year; the Gnostic texts remember the world destroyed, to return in the Last Days.

Darken the Sun: The opponent's next action, win or lose, triggers no transit. The card that just landed here loses 3 Reach.

006/58 · The Capture of Luna

4039 BCE · Source tag: Attested · Severity 7 · Reach 3

After 270 years adrift, frozen solid, Earth settles into its present orbit between Venus and Mars, an intruder planet, the Titius-Bode spacing broken to admit it. The Moon appears in orbit, arrived out of the destroyed Nemesis system. The year runs 360 days, and keeps that length until 713 BCE.

Pole Shift: The card that just landed here swaps its Severity and Reach. The clock steps back once before the ordinary step, never below zero. Sealed history stays sealed.

007/58 · Year One: the Fiery Flaming Sword

3895 BCE · Source tag: Attested · Severity 9 · Reach 7

A thirty-degree pole shift makes a New Heavens and a New Earth, and mankind is banished under a 'fiery flaming sword' in the sky: the first witnessed appearance of planet Phoenix. Year One of the Ancient World's calendar, the 6,000-year Annus Mundi count that ends in 2106 CE.

The Fiery Flaming Sword: Every unsealed card in play is exiled, this one included. Both hands return to the deck, the deck is shuffled, and each side is dealt five again. Sealed history is untouched.

008/58 · The Gihon Flood

3439 BCE · Source tag: Attested · Severity 9 · Reach 3

Nemesis X Object completes its orbit and passes dangerously close; the waters of the Gihon overwhelm a third of mankind. The Watchers descend in its wake, two hundred of them with a sixty-year window to make the crossing, and the Technolithic period begins.

Slip the Basin: Every unsealed card in play with effective Reach below 9 is exiled — yours included, this one included.

009/58 · Impact Over North America

3113 BCE · Source tag: Attested · Severity 9 · Reach 3

Impacts and disasters; a strike on North America. The Mayan Long Count begins counting this year, and not to 2012: reckoned in its own perfect 360-day years, the thirteenth baktun of 144,000 days completes in 2046 CE, when Earth is removed from its orbit.

Darken the Sun: The opponent's next action, win or lose, triggers no transit. The card that just landed here loses 3 Reach.

010/58 · The Anunna Exodus

2647 BCE · Source tag: Attested · Severity 7 · Reach 3

Nemesis X Object completes its orbit and departs, and over sixty years the Anunna vanish from among men. Sumer's government, institutions, language and culture go with them, replaced by Akkad and the warlike nation-states. The Abandonment and Shock period begins: 408 years to the Flood.

Vanishing: Exile one unsealed enemy card that is not Mythic. If its game state was Secured, draw a card.

011/58 · The Great Flood

2239 BCE · Source tag: Attested · Severity 10 · Reach 10

Year 1656 Annus Mundi. Seven days before the Deluge, Phoenix was seen entering the inner system, growing larger in the sky from the direction of Venus; it transited between Earth and the sun and cast the planet in shadow. The world turned upside down: a pole shift, continental quakes and mudfloods, hundreds of cities shoved undersea, worldwide volcanism, red rains and cosmic dust fallout, the vapor canopy collapsing out of the sky. Every culture on the planet remembers this year; over a thousand flood traditions agree.

The Great Deluge: Every unsealed card in play that is not Mythic is exiled. Each side keeps its oldest card in hand, discards the rest and draws up to two additional cards.

2101 BCE · Source tag: Partial · Severity 3 · Reach 5

The first return after the Flood. The Chronicon logs Phoenix completing its 138-year orbit and returning toward the Kuiper Belt. It suggests a possible Chinese record, referring the reader to its 2137 BCE entry, rather than describing a definite catastrophe on this return.

013/58 · Night Turned to Day

1963 BCE · Source tag: Attested · Severity 7 · Reach 9

A temporary pole shift. The Vedic Ramayana preserves it exactly: night suddenly turned to day, people wakened in their beds by daylight, astronomers bewildered to find the oil lamps still full; then the sun plunged and night returned. A Babylonian omen text reads: 'If the sun comes out in the night and the country sees it light everywhere: there will be disorder in the country everywhere.'

014/58 · Typhon Over Babylon

1915 BCE · Source tag: Attested · Severity 7 · Reach 3

The first return of Nemesis X Object after the Flood. Babylon records a great blackness that swallowed the stars; Hesiod's Typhon appears with flaming dragon heads as the seas overrun their bounds, and a 'thundervolt', a flux tube, flashes between Earth and the intruder. The 32nd year of Nimrod's reign.

The Dark Satellite passes close and a flux tube strikes Nimrod's great pyramid at Shinar, vaporising its upper third in vitrified detritus as a continental quake lifts the southern Mediterranean basin out of the sea. The languages fracture; 750,000 flee in all directions; the topography of the world changes.

1849 BCE · Source tag: Attested · Severity 7 · Reach 3

Earth crosses the strewn field of the Sodom-Trojan Apocalypse Group. The cities of the plain burn; Mohenjo-daro's people are found where they fell, unmarked by weapons, their skeletons anomalously radioactive; Sumer's Lamentation Texts mourn an 'evil wind'. The year is 2046 Annus Mundi. 'There is deity in the design. We have been warned.'

1825 BCE · Source tag: Partial · Severity 3 · Reach 6

018/58 · The Ogygian Flood

1687 BCE · Source tag: Attested · Severity 10 · Reach 8

Direct transit between the orbits of Venus and Earth, darkening the sun. The Ogygian Flood drowned the Peloponnese; the Xia Dynasty fell under yellow fogs and a darkened sun; a twenty-five-year darkness and famine sit in the records of the Mediterranean and the Americas alike. After this year, the Chronicon notes, no dynasty on Earth called itself Children of the Sun again.

1549 BCE · Source tag: Attested · Severity 7 · Reach 6

Crete, Thera, the Cyclades: the whole Aegean shaken, with tsunamis on the coasts. Pharaoh Ahmose's Tempest Stele records a darkness in the west, houses floating on the water, no one able to light a torch. The Chinese Bamboo Books log yellow fog, a dim sun, then three suns, frost in July. India goes silent for a thousand years.

1411 BCE · Source tag: Attested · Severity 7 · Reach 10

Phoenix passed and shed the debris that became the Joshua Comet Group. The Midrashim record the sun's motion altered; a Samaritan chronicle has a new star at Joshua's long day; Servius wrote that the sky turned bloody red. Venus itself was bathed in Phoenix dust and grew a tail: the smoking star of the Toltecs, the bearded star of the Chaldeans.

An editorial panorama of the Late Bronze Age Mediterranean. The Chronicon's 1229-1135 BCE discussions describe ruined Aegean cities, migrations and the later Phoenix transit. This card's broad 13th-12th-century setting is not an exact date for a single catastrophe.

023/58 · Direct Transit: the Dark Age Begins

1135 BCE · Source tag: Attested · Severity 10 · Reach 8

Direct transit. The sun darkened as it had 552 years earlier at the fall of the Old Bronze Age, and 552 before that at the Flood. Nebuchadnezzar I recorded a 'comet' that darkened the sun over Babylon; Egypt's new 20th Dynasty opened under an immense black cloud, a blood-red sun and a rain of dust, the same dust that fell in 1902. The Mediterranean Dark Age begins on this spoke, and the record goes quiet for three centuries.

King David, in his sixth year at Jerusalem, saw the Angel of Death standing between heaven and earth like a sword over the city, the same fiery-sword imagery the Chronicon traces to the Phoenix's first witnessed appearance in 3895 BCE. Palace seals and wall reliefs from this reign show the empire expecting the return of the Winged Disk, the old sign of the Phoenix, and it appears on the relief commemorating King Jehu's submission. Chinese astronomers logged the event, and Rome's annalists preserved that late in the reign of Romulus the sun darkened; Augustine conceded the darkness did not obey 'the natural laws of the heavenly bodies'.

713 BCE · Source tag: Attested · Severity 9 · Reach 7

The Dark Satellite passes too close, and a flux tube out of the sky vaporises 185,000 Assyrian soldiers on the road to Jerusalem. The cataclysm moves Earth's orbit: the 360-day year becomes 365.25 days, and every calendar on the planet, China to the Americas, adds five 'evil days' to compensate. The 864,000th day of the Long Count.

583 BCE · Source tag: Attested · Severity 7 · Reach 7

Lydia and Media met in battle and the sun went out over the field, halting both armies; they concluded peace on the spot. Thales of Miletus had predicted the darkening two years before, and Greek philosophy rode on the fame of it. The Chronicon attributes this solar darkening to the appointed transit rather than the moon, in May, 1,656 years after the Flood; Rashi wrote that every 1,656 years a similar disaster occurs.

445 BCE · Source tag: Attested · Severity 7 · Reach 6

Phoenix passed out of alignment now, too far for direct transit, but the record of the year is grim: a disaster lasting thirteen days, forest fires, rains and flooding, put at 830,000 dead in the reign of Artaxerxes I, ascribed by de Jonge to a 'comet'. Six years later Athens dedicated the Parthenon, carrying the Flood and the War of the Giants on its friezes.

331 BCE · Source tag: Attested · Severity 7 · Reach 3

Nemesis X Object returns as Alexander meets Darius III. The Chronicon records a solar darkening that it allows may have been an ordinary eclipse. Separately, it describes a blood-red moon and says modern computations do not explain that lunar event. Alexander takes Babylon in the 600th year since the Divided Kingdom.

Kent recorded dragons and beasts fighting in the air and a rain of great drops of blood; a star over Winchester trailed a ray ending in a flaming dragon; earthquakes levelled Olympia.
